Reflexology- The Session
After our initial communication, I will ask that a consultation form be filled out so that I may understand your condition completely
(before our first visit). I can send you this form via email or regular mail and would like to have it back before our first visit.
This way, I can research the effects of any pharmaceuticals you are taking so that I may understand which organs are affected and
base my treatment plan on your current situation and history. I find that this method saves time during the first visit and allows me
to understand the intricacies of your condition.
This is how a typical session unfolds:
- There is an initial evaluation (forms, discussion etc.) and observations of the feet. Your feet tell a story; the colour,
temperature and any associated foot problems will help me with your specific treatment plan.
- I put together a treatment plan that is specific to each individual case.
- A treatment schedule is outlined as optimal healing takes place with consistent treatments.
- The feet (or hands) are cleaned; this allows a level of total comfort for the client.
- Tea tree oil powder is applied so that the hands won't slip and those reflex points can really be worked on. The treatment is
not a foot massage, it's a pressure point stimulation technique and therefore friction is important. All areas of each foot are
worked on with even pressure and special attention is given to those areas of the body that are problematic.
- The session will last one hour.
- One foot (or hand) is worked on at a time. At the end of the treatment, both feet are worked on together for a final relaxation
exercise. Relaxation exercises are important because they help the body relax even further and only when you're relaxed can you truly heal.
- Water is provided to keep you hydrated and to encourage your body to eliminate toxins.
Please note: I do not diagnose conditions. I do not promise cures. I do not pass judgements. I do not speak negatively about any other healthcare professions.
What it feels like:
Many different sensations may be felt during a treatment. Some may be so subtle that you may not even notice them. Everything is
normal and there is no one set way that your body will react. Your experience is completely individual so, don't expect anything and
you'll be surprised with what happens. Reactions are generally positive and may include:
- Sweating on the area being treated.
- Coughing.
- Laughing or crying may indicate a release of emotions.
- Relaxed or sleepy.
- Occasional twitching in parts of the body.
- Warmth or a feeling of movement in the corresponding area being treated.
- Desire to sleep.
- Some areas may be sensitive or painful, that’s normal. It may mean that there’s a little bit of energy stagnation in a
certain area of the body, that’s what we’re working to get rid of.
- You may feel a tingling sensation in your limbs or your entire body.
- Your tummy may grumble (that’s what happens when you relax).
- Everyone is different and will exxperience the treatment in a very individual way.
The treatments are designed so that they are an enjoyable experience. If the treatment hurts too much, simply ask for lighter pressure.
After the session
Since the body system is being stimulated, you may notice some short terms effect which can include: slightly exacerbated symptoms
(this means that the treatment is working), some mild aches/pains following the treatments, mild skin eruptions (a sign of detoxification),
fatigue for a couple of days, if you feel like you've been getting sick, you may actually get sick, increased gas and increased frequency
of bowel movements, more energy and improved sleep patterns.
