Champissage - Stress

Stress is a force or a set of demands that infringe upon our mental and physical energy.

With the busy lives we lead (work and family) we are suffering from more stress today than our ancestors ever had. As a result, we are more prone to getting sick. Stress can arise from unfortunately circumstances like a death in the family, busy activity like moving to a new home, changing jobs, debt, illness, relationships, work, and even from happy circumstances like marriage, a new baby and attending school. The lack of predictability of a situation, lack of control and lack of outlets for frustration are all causes of stress. The effects of long terms stress can be quite harmful to our bodies and mind. We have to learn how to bounce back from a stressful situation and resume our daily lives in a normal fashion, which is the cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle.

Trying to focus on the present moment rather than living in the past or looking ahead to the future is when you have the greatest clarity and sense of peace. Focusing on anything other than the present can hold back your potential to thrive. Focusing on the present moment brings life into perspective and decreases stressful reactions.

Our physical reaction to stress includes an immediate hormonal system response and the subsequent release of adrenaline. This surge of adrenaline causes high blood pressure, muscle tension, breathing becomes shallow and quick, digestion is halted and the brain becomes super sensitive to stimulus. If this stress response is prolonged, a body can experience: fatigue, headaches, heartburn, bowel disorders including indigestion, adrenal stress, insomnia, busy mind and depression.

Your emotions will also be affected as you may feel irritable, emotional, overwhelmed, panic, anxiety, insecurity, mood swings, low self esteem, forgetfulness, phobias etc.

When out of balance, you will need assistance to get your body, mind and spirit into alignment and into harmony. Indian Champissage is a fantastic way to restore that balance; it eases tension and calms the mind.
